
Massapequa, NY – March 4, 2019 – The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Brentwood woman for Driving While Intoxicated/Leandra’s Law that occurred on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 3:05 a.m. in Massapequa.
According to police, an officer while on routine patrol observed Kniah Allen, 30, operating a 2009 Nissan westbound in the eastbound lanes on Sunrise Highway. The officer initiated a car stop. During the investigation it was discovered that the defendant emitted the odor of alcohol on her breath and had glassy, watery eyes. The defendant was placed under arrest without incident. The defendant’s 3 year old son was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of arrest. The child was taken home by the defendant’s mother, who responded to the scene.
The defendant Kniah Allen is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16 – Leandra’s Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two (2) counts of Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and multiple VTL infractions. She will be arraigned on Monday, March 4, 2019 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
