Old Brookville, NY – May 22, 2016 – The Green Vale School took home a very prestigious award last week when third grader Cecilia Saad from Mrs. Lorraine Campbell’s class was named the top third-grader in the Zaner-Bloser national handwriting contest, beating out more than 37,350 participants in this year’s annual competition. Cecilia was presented with a trophy, medal and check for $1,000 at the school’s weekly assembly.
To top it off, Cecilia said she is going to donate a portion of her winnings to the Tanzanian Children’s Fund, which is run by Green Vale alumna India Howell ’72.
At the assembly, Zaner-Bloser representative Christian Standerwich also presented Mrs. Campbell with a plaque and a trip to Boston this summer for a National Literacy Conference.
