OLD BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – “Tulsa, Oklahoma grew rapidly in the early 20th century after the discovery of what natural resource nearby?”
“Oil,” 7th grade Sam answered, which earned him the title of Geography Bee School Champion.
On Wednesday, January 27, the Green Vale School held its annual Geography Bee with its 10 finalists – two from each of grades 4-8. These 10 students competed in front of their peers, faculty members and School administration. Seventh grader Sam won the Geography Bee by answering the aforementioned question correctly. That response broke the tie over 8th grader Justin following 15 rounds of questions. Next up, Sam will take an online test administered through the National Geographic Society to see if he will qualify for the New York State Geography Bee.
