New York, NY – A statement from Chad A. Lupinacci: I have had the privilege of serving the Huntington community for over a decade, first as a South Huntington School Board Trustee and now as a New York State Assemblyman. I am very grateful to the community and residents for their continued support.
Following the recent announcement that Congressman Steve Israel will not seek re-election, I have received numerous phone calls from community leaders encouraging me to explore a Congressional run. They believe that it is time to bring prosperity back to Long Island and preserve our quality of life, and are confident that my record of proven results will make a positive impact in the United States House of Representatives. Simply put: Long Islanders are frustrated with business as usual in Washington.
I have heard the voices of everyday Long Islanders, and they are tired of candidates who are out of touch and out of sight until election season. As an elected official, I have proven that — whether in Albany or at home — the voices of my constituents matter. Therefore, I am strongly considering entering the race for New York’s third Congressional District.
I am humbled and flattered that our community has shown such overwhelming support for my name on the Congressional ballot this November. I will take these next few weeks to carefully evaluate all options for the future — as always, with the best interests of my constituents and Long Island in mind.
