Rockville Centre, NY – Staff from Catholic Health Services’s (CHS) Melville corporate offices volunteered their time and enthusiasm to bring Christmas cheer to hundreds of Long Island families. Collaborating with the Gerald Ryan Outreach Center at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Wyandanch, the CHS employees worked tirelessly, collecting new toys and monetary contributions to purchase items for local children whose families were identified as being in need through the parish program. They distributed these gifts, along with stocking stuffers, Christmas decorations, turkeys and hams.
This eighth consecutive toy drive was a huge success, surpassing the impact of last year’s toy collection. With CHS’s Information Technology Field Services Department spearheading the effort, system staff members from various departments worked together to collect newly purchased merchandise and donate more than $2,000 for additional purchases. Many gave of their time to sort and deliver these gifts. A total of more than 1,300 children received toys in this partnership with community members and the Wyandanch church.
