New York, NY – Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington) was pleased to announce that Governor Cuomo recently signed a bill into law that allows SUNY police officers to join the New York State and Local Police and Fire Retirement System.
“I’m glad I could help shepherd this bill through the legislature and see this bill signed into law. Too many dedicated and reliable campus police officers have left the SUNY system in recent years in hopes of finding a retirement system that will better support them and their families,” said Lupinacci, who co-sponsored Assembly Bill 4519. “Police officers on SUNY campuses do an exceptional job at keeping our students safe and deserve a retirement that’s similar to state and local police enforcement and firefighters.”
