Old Bethpage, NY – Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE) partnered with Turn of the Corkscrew, Books and Wine to provide individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities from their day programs with valuable retail employment experience during this busy Holiday Season. James Hausmann, a FREE program participant and member of the “Bethpage Wrappers” Gift Wrapping Club worked at Turn of the Corkscrew, in Rockville Centre, NY, as a gift wrapper.
“We at FREE are excited whenever a member of our community can get hands on work experience out in the community. These types of endeavors show people that our community has a great deal to offer,” said Robert S. Budd, CEO of FREE. “Providing hands-on training to members of FREE’s community is crucial in helping them find employment in a job market with an 11.2% unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities,” continued Budd.
