
LONG ISLAND, NY – Nassau County Police are releasing the details of an arrest for Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 2:32 pm in Roslyn Heights.
According to detectives, a male subject entered the Citgo Gas station 1 Powerhouse Road and demanded money. The subject kept his right hand inside his pocket simulating as if he had a firearm. The 49 year old male victim complied with an undetermined amount of US currency. The subject then fled on foot across Powerhouse Road onto Roslyn Road.
Matthew Williams, 23 is being charged for Robbery 1st, 3rd Degree after he was arrested for robbing the Citgo Gas Station in Roslyn Heights. He is scheduled to be arraigned today, October 14, 2015.
Third Precinct officers searching the area observed a male fitting the description of the subject walking in the rear of 261 Parkside Drive. After an investigation officers arrested defendant Matthew Williams, 23, New Hyde Park. No weapon was recovered. There were no reported injuries.
The defendant is being charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Robbery 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at First District Court, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
