
LONG ISLAND, NY – Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are currently investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a yogurt shop in North Babylon last night.
According to Suffolk County Police, two men approached the rear door of Red Mango Frozen Yogurt Shop, located at 1184 Deer Park Ave., at approximately 11:40 p.m. One of the suspects punched and struck an employee with a handgun. A second employee was instructed to open the safe. The employee complied and handed over an undetermined amount of cash. The suspects fled on foot in the direction of Woods Road.
The suspects are described as approximately 6 feet tall, wearing dark ski masks, black windbreakers, black hoodies, black jeans and black sneakers. They were both armed with handguns. One employee suffered minor injuries and the other employee was not injured.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
The fact that a suspect is accused with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
