
LONG ISLAND, NY – Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist in Holbrook last night, September 28.
According to police, Victor Cinelli was operating a 1989 Honda motorcycle westbound on Portion Road in Holbrook last night at approximately 7:40 p.m. when he was struck by a 1997 Toyota Avalon, operated by Abdullah Ozturk, who was attempting to make a left turn onto Holbrook Road.
Cinelli, 55, of Bohemia was transported via ambulance from the Ronkonkoma Fire Department ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Ozturk, 58, of Franklin Square, was transported via Centereach Fire Department ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital with neck and back injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
