
LONG ISLAND, NY – The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for Grand Larceny on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Hempstead.
According to detectives, Rafael Castillo, 46, was asked by a male friend 36 years of age, to cash his workers compensation settlement check in the amount of $12,030.63. Castillo deposited the check into his personal account but did not reimburse the victim. On Tuesday, September 15, 2015 the Crimes Against Property Squad detectives located Castillo at his residence and placed him under arrest.
Rafael Castillo, 46, was arrested after he stole his friend’s workers compensation check valuing $12,030.63. He is being charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree is being arraigned today September 16, 2015.
Castillo is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree and will be arraigned on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
