
LONG ISLAND, NY – The Nassau County Major Case Bureau has arrested a Brentwood man for a Commercial Burglary which occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 10:20 P.M. in Hicksville.
According to Robbery Squad detectives, Edgar Medina, 53 of Brentwood, along with other individuals not yet apprehended, forced entry into the Loomis facility, opened a vault and removed an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to Robbery Squad detectives, Edgar Medina, 53 of Brentwood, was charged with Burglary 3rd degree, Grand Larceny 1st degree and Possession of Burglar Tools. The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
A Second Precinct police officer on routine patrol discovered the crime while in progress, apprehended the defendant and recovered the proceeds. The investigation is continuing and detectives request anyone with information regarding the above crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
Medina is charged with Burglary 3rd degree, Grand Larceny 1st degree and Possession of Burglar Tools. He was scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
