
LONG ISLAND, NY – Nassau County Police have arrested a Wantagh man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11:45 pm in Wantagh.
According to detectives, Rocko Fox, 18, of Wantagh, while in the parking lot of the Cherrywood Shopping Center, used a BB gun to shoot at an occupied auto causing it to sustain a hole in the rear tailgate. The driver, a 17 year old male, exited his car, observed the damage and confronted Fox who was sitting in his vehicle. Fox then pointed the BB gun at the victim before fleeing the scene.
Rocko Fox, 18, of Wantagh, was charged with Menacing 2nd Degree, three counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Responding officers located Fox a short time later and placed him under arrest without incident. A subsequent investigation revealed that Fox, prior to the above incident, was responsible for shooting at and damaging the glass windows of Cherrywood Wine & Liquor, 1152 Wantagh Avenue, The Realty Advisors, 1168 Wantagh Avenue as well as the front and rear windshields of a car that was parked in the Willow Wood Shopping Center across the street.
Fox is charged with Menacing 2nd Degree, three counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead today, August 21st, 2015.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
