Cops: Homicide Squad Investigating Death of Oceanside Resident; Victim’s Daughter Charged with Murder

LONG ISLAND, NY – The Nassau County Homicide Squad is investigating the death of an Oceanside resident from an incident that took place on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 12:48 P.M.
According to detectives, Fourth Precinct officers responded to 2754 Terrell Avenue for an Assault call. Upon arrival they discovered a female victim, Irma Grossman, 79, with a neck wound. Grossman was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 2:55 P.M. by hospital staff.
Suzan Grossman-Kerner, 56, of Oceanside was charged with Murder 2nd degree. The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Homicide detectives arrested the daughter of victim, Suzan Grossman-Kerner, 56, of Oceanside. Defendant Grossman-Kerner is charged with Murder 2nd degree and is scheduled to be arraigned today, Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead. The investigation is ongoing.
According to CBS News, police are continuing their probe into what motivated the tragedy. A press briefing was to be held today at Nassau County Police Headquarters where additional details of the Oceanside Homicide will be made available.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
