
LONG ISLAND, NY – Nassau County Police along with Robbery Squad Detectives have obtained probable cause to arrest a man suspected in two bank robberies in Nassau County this month.
According to police, Elvi Rodriguez, 32, is the suspect sought in two bank robberies on August 4th, 2015. Police have obtained probably cause to arrest, the subject described as a Male Hispanic, 32 years old, 5’ 7” tall, thin build, last seen wearing a white T-shirt, jeans, and a black drawstring bag.
According to police, Elvi Rodriguez, 32, of Valley Stream was found occupying a stolen 2009 Suzuki SX4 outside of Massapequa home. During the arrest Rodriguez resisted but was eventually placed into custody. In his possession were 3 white pills identified as Zolpidem. Rodriguez was charged with two counts of Robbery 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and Resisting Arrest.
Police say Rodriguez entered the banks and presented a demand note to each of the victim tellers. Rodriguez received an undisclosed amount of cash from both banks, one at Citibank, 297 Merrick Road, Rockville Centre and the other at Roslyn Savings, 3140 Long Beach Road, Oceanside. According to police, Rodriguez fled in a Blue Ford Pickup Truck from Roslyn Savings Bank which has now been recovered.
The Nassau County Police Department Robbery Squad at is seeking information to locate Rodriguez and ask anyone with information to call 516-573-8040 and refer to Robbery Squad Number 459/460-15. Crime Stoppers is asking anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of Rodriguez to also call the toll free hotline: 1-800-244-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. All calls will be kept confidential.

The fact that a suspect is being charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Suspects are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
