LONG ISLAND, NY – Seventh Precinct officers report the details of a childbirth that occurred on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 1:20 am in Massapequa.
According to officers, a 911 call was received and dispatched for a 30 year old female who collapsed on the floor in labor at a Hamilton Avenue home. Upon arrival, along with a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance Medical Technician, it was determined that childbirth was imminent.
During the delivery of the female infant, the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck; she was not breathing and had a weak pulse. After suctioning the baby’s mouth she began breathing on her own and established a healthy color.
Both mother and baby were transported to a local hospital where they are reported to be doing fine
