Nassau Police Investigating Armed Robbery in West Hempstead; Victims Forced to Pull Over, Then Robbed

LONG ISLAND, NY – Nassau County Police are investigating a Robbery that occurred on Sunday, July 05, 2015 at 2:10 am in West Hempstead.
According to detectives, two 19 year old male victims were driving on Hempstead Turnpike, Uniondale when an unknown silver four door sedan driven by an unknown male black, cut them off and started yelling through the window. The victim continued to drive, but the unknown subject followed. The victim was forced to pull over on Hempstead Turnpike and Stratford Road.
Both drivers exited their automobiles. The subject continued to yell and then punched the victim several times about the face. A second unknown male black subject exited the silver sedan and walked over to the victims’ vehicle where the second victim was still seated, displayed a handgun and demanded money and property. The victims complied with 2 iPhones, credit cards and an undetermined amount of cash. The subjects then fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim, the driver, proceeded to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The second victim, a passenger in the vehicle, was not injured.
Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous. Nassau County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
