
LONG ISLAND, NY – Nassau County Homicide Squad has charged a Merrick woman in a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 11:00 pm in Freeport.
According to detectives, an unknown male victim was crossing Sunrise Highway west of Buffalo Avenue from north to south when he was struck by a gray Nissan Altima traveling eastbound. The vehicle continued to travel eastbound on Sunrise Highway failing to stop. The victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 11:32 pm by emergency room staff.
Stephanie Beeker, 66, of Merrick was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident involving a fatality.
After an investigation detectives placed under arrest defendant Stephanie Beeker, 66, of Merrick at 12:32 am on July 4, 2015 in Baldwin.
The vicinity of Sunrise Highway and Buffalo Avenue in Freeport NY.
Defendant Beeker is being charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident involving Death. She was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday, July 05, 2015 at First District Court, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
