Cops: Woman, 81, Dies in Deer Park House Fire; Preliminary Investigation Determines Cause to be Electrical

LONG ISLAND, NY – Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives and officials from the Town of Babylon Fire Marshal’s office are investigating a fire that killed a woman in Deer Park on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at approximately 4:50 a.m.
Suffolk County Police First Precinct officers on routine patrol observed smoke coming from the home located at 112 Pine St., Deer Park at approximately 4:50 a.m. Multiple fire departments responded and upon entry, Eleanor Didea, 81, who lives at the home, was found deceased on the first floor of the home.
A preliminary investigation has determined the cause of the fire to be electrical in nature.
The investigation is continuing.
