Cops: Farmingdale Woman, Elisa Pellino, 66, Charged with Hate Crime; Left Racist Telephone Messages at Church

LONG ISLAND, NY – Suffolk County Police have arrested a woman for leaving racist and alarming messages at a church in Amityville.
According to police, on Wednesday, July 1, the Pastor of the New Hope Institutional Baptist Church located at 30 Harrison Avenue, Amityville called Suffolk County Police to report a racist and alarming telephone message left at the church. Hate Crimes Unit detectives were notified and initiated an investigation.
Elisa Pellino, 66, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Harassment 2nd Degree as a Hate Crime. The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Detectives arrested Elisa Pellino at her home on Main Street in Farmingdale last evening at approximately 5:50 p.m.
Pellino, 66, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Harassment 2nd Degree as a Hate Crime.
She was being held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today, July 3.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
