LONG ISLAND, NY – The Homicide Squad reports the details of a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 6:06 pm in Hempstead.
According to detectives, the victim, Jonathan Wade, 55, of Hempstead was traveling westbound in a 2001 Lexus on Albermarle Road when he witnessed a disturbance and called 911. Wade pulled up in front of 81 Albemarle Avenue in Hempstead, and was shot by unknown person(s) while seated in a motor vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. The victim left scene westbound to Henry Street where he struck a chain link fence and then into bleachers at the Hempstead Middle School striking three youths.
A shooting occurred yesterday, June 30 leaving a man dead and three youths injured. Police and detectives are currently investigating this crime to gain further details. The youths were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced deceased by a staff physician at 8:02 pm.
The investigation is ongoing.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
