LONG ISLAND, NY – Third Squad detectives are investigating a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 9:15 pm in East Garden City.
According to detectives, after finishing her shift at a local establishment at the Roosevelt Field Mall and walking through the parking lot to her car, the 25 year old female victim was approached from behind by a female subject who displayed a black handgun and demanded money from her. After handing the subject $110.00 in cash, the subject fled on foot and was last seen heading through a nearby parking garage.
The uninjured victim described the subject as being 6’ tall, 250 pounds, with shoulder length black hair. She was wearing a dark blue t-shirt, light colored pants and a dark baseball cap.
According to mall management, police do not have a clear description of the subject and are currently reviewing mall security footage around the time that the incident occurred. With the help of mall security, detectives are currently investigating this matter.
A later statement was recieved to NewsLI from building management which included the following:
“The safety and security of our shoppers, retail tenants and employees is our number one priority. We work closely with federal, state and local authorities to take appropriate security measures that provide a safe environment at our malls. It is in the public’s best interest that we do not discuss or disclose any enhanced security measures and procedures that we have in place or may institute at any time, some of which are visible to the public, with others intentionally less noticeable.”

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
