
(Long Island, NY) The Nassau County Major Case Bureau has arrested two individuals for a Robbery that occurred on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 6:33 P.M. in Uniondale.
According to First Squad and Third Robbery Squad detectives, at 6:06 p.m. a 32 year old male employee was working inside the Star Deli located at 261A Nassau Road, Roosevelt when a male black subject entered the store displayed a silver handgun and demanded property. The victim complied and the subject fled westbound on foot.
At 6:15 p.m. a male victim, 38, was outside his vehicle at US Petroleum Gas Station located at 465 Nassau Road, Roosevelt when a male black subject approached him, placed a gun to his stomach and demanded cash. The victim complied and the subject fled westbound on Lee Street with an unknown determined amount of US currency.
Timothy Lang, 32 of 64 Allers Boulevard, Roosevelt was charged with 8 counts of Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 2nd degree and 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. At 6:24 p.m. a 55 year old male employee was working at Citgo Gas Station located at 221 Baldwin Road, Hempstead when a male black subject entered the store displayed a silver handgun and demanded he open the door leading the to register area. When the victim refused, the subject jumped over the counter and struck the victim in the head with the handgun. The subject continued to kick the victim until he opened the register. A witness observed the defendant enter a 2002 Ford Explorer and flee the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.
Kaphia LaRode, 24 of Roosevelt was apprehended in the rear parking lot of 977 Nassau Road in the 2002 Ford Explorer. She is being charged with 8 counts of Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 2nd degree and 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. At approximately 6:30 p.m. the defendant Timothy Lang, 32 of Roosevelt entered the Selina Convenience Smoke Shop located at 977 Nassau Road in Uniondale. The defendant approached the 28 year old male employee and struck the victim on his forehead with a silver handgun. The victim grabbed the handgun and after a struggle was able to wrestle the gun free from the defendant. First Precinct officers responded to the scene for a call for a man with a gun as the struggle was ongoing, gained entry to the store and placed Lang under arrest.

The defendants are being charged with 8 counts of Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 2nd degree and 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. They will be arraigned today at First District Court, Hempstead on Monday, January 05, 2015.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
