(Lindenhurst, NY) According to several news outlets as well as a message posted on the Lindenhurst Schools website from the Superintendent of Schools, Daniel Giordano, a bullet was found on the floor of the boys’ locker room, today, Friday, October 24, 2014.
“Earlier this morning, Oct. 24, several students at Lindenhurst Middle School found a bullet on the floor in the boys’ locker room. They immediately reported their finding to Principal Frank Naccarato and the district immediately called the Suffolk County Police Department to file a report. The police have collected the bullet and have begun an investigation. In addition, district officials have searched the surrounding area, as well as all of the lockers in the boys’ locker room, and have found no other evidence. Please be assured that the continued safety and security of our students is our top priority and we will continue to communicate any important information.”
The incident comes just ten days after a threat, which according to Newsday, was found on a piece of paper in the boys’ bathroom on Tuesday the 14th. The note was found by a student and reported to school officials.

Lindenhurst Schools Superintendent Daniel Giordano said that the threat, or ‘possible threat’ had been made for Monday, Oct. 20th and that the middle school would be putting into place ‘several additional security messages’ over the next several days and that there would be a police presence on school grounds on the 20th. Tuesday, the 21st, just a single day after the target date, the school was then scheduled to return to its normal routine according to both Newsday and Fios1News.
The Lindenhurst Junior High School is located at 350 South Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst.
