Nassau Detectives Charge Roosevelt Man with Multiple Counts of Criminal Sale, Possession of Crack Cocaine

(Nassau, LI) The Nassau County Police Department has reported the details of an arrest for criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance that occurred in Uniondale on June 16, 2014 and June 25, 2014 at 10:05 P.M. and 6:33 P.M., respectively.
According to Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives, Laquan Smith, 37, of 112 Mirin Avenue, Roosevelt, on the above listed dates, sold crack cocaine to another for an agreed upon amount of money, while in a parking lot on Jerusalem Avenue.
On September 30, 2014, Bureau of Special Operations police officers observed defendant Smith operating a 2007 Lexus in the vicinity of Lakewood Drive and Anna Avenue in Roosevelt, with passenger/defendant Nadine Blair, 34, of the same address. When officers stopped the vehicle, the defendant was found to be driving with a suspended license and had crack cocaine in the car.
Smith is being charged with two counts of Criminal Sale Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, three counts of Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 4th Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree, Operating a motor vehicle by an Unlicensed Driver and Unsafe Turn/Failed to Signal. Blair is being charged with Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 4th Degree. Both defendants will be arraigned today, Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in First District Court, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
