
(Yaphank, NY ) Suffolk County Police have arrested a Yaphank man for three armed robberies during which two of the victims were stabbed in Lake Ronkonkoma in June.
According to the report, Jed Stout approached a 43-year-old-man who was leaving the Wells Fargo ATM, located at 601 Portion Road, on June 24, demanded money and threatened to cut the man if he refused. The victim gave his wallet to Stout, who then fled.
Stout approached a 64-year-old man at the same ATM on June 28 and demanded money. The man refused and Stout stabbed him in the arm and fled.
The following day, Stout approached a 75-year-old man who was taking out the garbage in the parking lot of the shopping center at 601 Portion Road and demanded money. The victim told Stout he did not have money and then Stout slashed the victim’s face before fleeing on foot.

Following an investigation by Sixth Squad detectives, Stout, 23, of Yaphank, was charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree, two counts of Attempted Robbery 1st Degree and two counts of Assault 2nd Degree. Stout is scheduled for arraignment today at First District Court in Central Islip.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
