Federal Marshalls Hunt Down Far Rockaway Man, Dashawn Wade, 22; Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting in Baldwin

(Long Island, NY) The Nassau County Homicide Squad has reported the arrest of Dashawn Wade, 22, of Far Rockaway for murder from an incident that occurred on Saturday, August 02, 2014 at 3:41 am in Baldwin.
According to detectives, First Precinct police officers responded to a disturbance in front of Love Jones Café, 1920 Grand Avenue. Upon arrival officers found two victims, a 39 year old male shot in the leg and a 22 year old male shot in the chest. Both victims were transported to local hospitals. The 22 year old victim, later identified as Daquan Gaskin, 22, of Baltimore, Maryland, was pronounced deceased at 4:17 am by hospital staff. The 39 year old victim was treated and released.

Today, September 4, 2014 at 6:00 am Defendant Wade was apprehended with the assistance of the US Federal Marshall Task Force in Hempstead. The defendant is being charged with Murder 2nd Degree and will be arraigned tomorrow, Friday, September 5, 2014 at First District Court, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
