Nassau Police Charge Yonkers Man, Daniel Toone, with Robbery from Incident on Long Island Expressway in Jericho

(Long Island, NY) The Nassau County Police Department has arrested a Yonkers man for a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in Jericho.
According to Second Squad detectives, Daniel C. Toone, 30 of 160 Warburton Avenue was driving westbound on the Long Island Expressway with the female victim, 28 when an argument ensued. As the argument escalated Toone began to punch the victim in the face, breaking her glasses and injuring her eye. He pulled the car over on to the shoulder and physically kicked the victim out of the vehicle. Toone removed the victim’s cell phone, cash and personal papers from her pocketbook and continued westbound leaving the victim on the side of the road. A passerby stopped and called police. The victim suffered minor injuries to her face and knees.

Detectives located the defendant at his residence on Friday, August 30, 2014 and with assistance of Yonkers Police attempted to place him under arrest. At which time he began to struggle with the officers causing minor injuries to two Yonkers Police officers.
Toone is charged with Robbery 2nd degree and Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree. He will be arraigned today, Saturday, August 30, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
