Long Beach Woman Charged Under Leandra’s Law; Passenger in Vehicle 15 Years of Age; Driver DWI

(Long Island, NY) The Nassau County Police report the arrest of a Long Beach woman for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 4:00 A.M. in North Long Beach.
According to police, a Fourth Precinct patrol Officer observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Austin Boulevard drifting in and out of the lane. A Vehicle and Traffic Law stop was performed and it was determined the driver, Devon Oneill, 19, of 55 West Beech Street was under the influence of alcohol. The passenger in the car was a female, 15 years of age, who was released from the scene. Oneill was arrested without incident and transported to central testing for processing.
Devon Oneill, 19, of North Long Beach is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated (over .08%), Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (over .18%) and Failure to Maintain Lane.

She was scheduled to be arraigned today, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
