
(Franklin Square, NY) The Nassau County Police Department has reported the arrest of a Queens man for Grand Larceny on Saturday, August 02, 2014 at 5:05 P.M. in Franklin Square.
According to Fourth Squad detectives, James R. Markellos, 46, of 150-19 84th Road, Apt.2, Jamaica has several landscaping accounts in the Franklin Square and Elmont areas. He approached three separate victims between January and June 2014 and asked them for money to replace tools which had been stolen from his truck. He promised the victims he would repay the borrowed money and landscape their property. The defendant received over $30,000 from the victims in loans and future landscaping and never returned to do the work or repay the money. The victims were customers of Markellos who was arrested without incident.

He is charged with two counts of Grand Larceny 3rd degree, Petit Larceny and Defraud 2nd degree and will be arraigned on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
