James Valente, 45, charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Photo Nassau County Police Dept
(Westbury , NY) According to detectives on Saturday, 07/20/13 at 7:38 P.M., a male, 62, and female victim, 57, were in the parking lot of Home Depot located at 1320 Corporate Dr. Westbury, NY walking to their vehicle when they noticed James Valente, 45, of 32 Longfellow Ave., Westbury, parked next to their vehicle with his front driver door open and resting against their vehicle.
When the male victim saw a fresh paint scratch on his vehicle door he began to argue with the defendant. The defendant became enraged and punched the male victim on the head causing a small laceration. When the female victim took out her cell phone to take a picture of the defendant, he grabbed her cell phone and pushed her to the ground. When a witness came to assist them, Valente walked into the store, leaving his vehicle at the scene.
The male victim refused medical attention at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Nassau County’s Third Squad detectives located and arrested Valente shortly thereafter at his residence. He is being charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. He was arraigned on Sunday, 07/21/13 in First District Court, Hempstead.
