(Lindenhurst, NY) According to Suffolk Police, a 15-year-old teenager who had ran away from a juvenile facility in Westchester was arrested early this morning and charged with two commercial burglaries in Lindenhurst.
According to the report, a woman flagged down First Precinct patrol officers when she heard breaking glass at the corner of Hoffman Avenue and South Broadway early this morning. At approximately 12:55 a.m., Officer John Angus was interviewing a witness when he heard more glass breaking and observed a male climbing out of a broken window at Flag Beverage, located at 75 West Hoffman Ave. Officer Angus broadcasted a description of the suspect on police radio, and began pursuing him on foot.
Numerous officers responded and Officers Kyle Simcox and John Moore arrested the 15-year-old on Wellwood Avenue and East Gates Avenue at 1:19 a.m.
The investigation revealed the youth stole lottery tickets from the store. The proceeds were recovered a short time later.
First Squad detectives conducted an investigation and determined the juvenile was also responsible for another burglary that occurred at Exotic Liquors, located on Hoffman Avenue on July 11.
The teenager has been charged with two counts of Burglary in the 3rd Degree.
The suspect was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket and is being released to the juvenile facility where he resides in Westchester New York.
