Lindenhurst Man Killed In Jet Ski Accident off South Shore of LI

(Long Island, NY) The Suffolk County Police department released information on a jet ski accident which killed Michael Mignone, 33 of Lindenhurst on the Great South Bay Saturday.
Mignone was on his Yamaha jet ski near the New York State Boat Channel when he circled his 20-foot Trophy boat and ran into his own anchor line at approximately 4:50 p.m.
The boat launch at Venetian Shores where Mignone entered and park workers witnessed police and emergency crews respond to the accident. Venetian Shores is a resident only beach and requires a resident permit for entrance.
Two men that work at the pay-booth at Venetian Shores Park, named Chris and Mike, told NewsLI.com they saw ambulances arrive at the scene approximately an hour after Mignone entered. They said paramedics tried to resuscitate Mignone for 30 minutes before transporting him, which according to police, was to the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.
Mignone died from his injuries. The boat and the jet ski were towed to the Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau for safety checks.
According to police the incident appears non-criminal. There were no other injuries reported.
