Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk and Astoria Federal Savings Bank Dedicate a home to the Hille Family Today in Mastic Beach
February 17, 2011
(Mastic Beach, NY) – James and Ciara Hille will receive the keys to their new home today, February 18, 2011 at 2 p.m. Their dream home was built by Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk, volunteers and sponsors who will gather at 196 Beaver Drive, Mastic Beach for an emotional ceremony.
Construction for this home began on June 24, 2010 with a wall raising by Astoria Federal Savings Bank, the main sponsor of the home. Bank employees participate in wall raising and construction of the home. Astoria Federal has helped to sponsor and build 25 Habitat Suffolk homes since 1997. Other Sponsor-for-a-Day groups included a company donation and volunteers from, Integrated Nephrology Network (INN), LI Hospital Team, Practice Pay Solutions, State Bank of Long Island, Teachers Federal Credit Union, and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) who all helped construct the home…
James and Ciara Hille have two children, James Jr. (5) and Juliana (1). The family was required to move out of an employer-provided apartment in 2009 after James lost his job at a local management company. Since then the family has been living with relatives in cramped housing. James currently works as an electrician’s helper and Ciara is a technician at a veterinarian hospital.
“Our children have shared a bedroom since our daughter was born. Knowing that they now will have a room of their own and a yard to play in is the most wonderful feeling in the world. The idea of having a home for our children to grow up in truly means so much to our family, more than words can express.” said Ciara Hille.
