Troubled Britney Spears Scores A Hit
Troubled Britney Spears has finally got some good news, her new song is now a success on the music charts.
Despite the pop star’s turbulent personal life and the humiliation of her much-panned performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards, Gimme More jumped from No. 68 to No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
The song, released to radio stations in August, also topped the US magazine’s Hot Digital Songs chart at No. 1 with 179,000 downloads,
Gimme More is the first single from her new album, set for release on November 13.
Last month, a judge said Spears, 25, showed “a habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol”.
She was then ordered to complete random drug and alcohol tests twice a week, as well as meeting weekly with a “parenting coach”, according to court documents.
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline separated 11 months ago
The judge told Spears and Federline to complete a parenting class too.
Earlier this week, a judge ordered the 25-year-old singer to temporarily hand over custody of her two sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline.
After reportedly missing two random drug tests earlier this month because she overslept, Britney will now undergo strict drug testing. The judge ruled that he could regard any missed test as a failed one.
On Wednesday, a Los Angeles court commissioner granted her some visiting rights, but Federline, 29, remains full-time father to Sean Preston, two, and Jayden one-year-old Jayden James.
Another custody hearing is scheduled for October 26.
