Detectives Investigating Attempted Robbery in Elmont; Victim Approached While Unlocking Front Door of Home

(Elmont, NY) Nassau County detectives are investigating an Attempted Robbery that occurred yesterday, January 27, 2014 at 9:28 pm in Elmont.
According to Fourth Squad detectives, after returning home with his car from a short trip to a local gas station at his Sweetman Avenue residence, a 25 year old male, as he was about to unlock his front door, was approached by two male black subjects, one of whom was armed with a silver handgun.

The subjects, who told him to open his door also made a demand for the victim’s keys. After refusing their demands, the victim was struck in the head with the gun several times causing him to suffer a laceration. After continuing to struggle to retain his keys, both subjects then fled on Sweetman Avenue towards Travis Avenue without any proceeds.
The victim, who refused medical attention at the scene, described the subjects as follows:
- Subject #1: 5’11” tall, 200 pounds with dark skin. He was wearing a red hoodie, dark pants, a black mask covering his face and was armed with the handgun.
- Subject #2: 6’0” tall, 180 pounds with dark skin. He was wearing dark colored clothes, a skullcap and a black mask covering his face.
