Lakeview Man Arrested for Shooting and Attempted Robbery; Fired Striking Victim in Shoulder and Chest

(Long Island, NY) A Lakeview man was arrested on Sunday, January 19 at 11:24p.m. for shooting a 32 year old man in the shoulder and chest then trying to rob him on December 16, 2013 at 5:46p.m. in Lakeview.
According to detectives, while inside Middle Store Deli & Grocery, 1194 Woodfield Road, the 32 year old male victim became involved in a dispute with Terence Cunningham, 27, of Lakeview. Cunningham, who left the store, waited for the victim to exit, approached him and fired a shot from a handgun, striking the victim in the shoulder and chest.
The subject then attempted to remove the victim’s property and was seen by a witness fleeing northbound on Woodfield Road. The victim returned to the deli and advised the owner that he had been shot.
A subsequent investigation by detectives led them to Cunningham who was located on Lehman Road, Lakeview on 01/19/2014 at 11:24 pm and placed under arrest without incident.
Cunningham is charged with Assault 1st Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st Degree, Attempted Robbery 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 01/20/2014.
