Medford Man Driving Wrong Way in HOV Lane Charged with Drunk Driving; Several 911 Calls Alerted Police

(Medford, NY) A Medford man was arrested for drunk driving after he drove the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway between exits 64 and 58 on Monday, January 13 at 2:35a.m.
Suffolk County Highway Patrol Officer Todd Collier and Sgt. Michael Baranek responded to several 911 calls reporting a 2006 Honda Civic traveling westbound in the eastbound HOV lane of the LIE at Exit 64 in Medford.
Sgt. Baranek approached the vehicle in the eastbound lane while Officer Collier drove west on the westbound side until they caught up with the vehicle and were able to pull the driver over between exits 59 and 58.
The driver, Steven Brill, 51, of Medford, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.
Brill was held at the Sixth Precinct and arraigned Monday, January 13 at First District Court in Central Islip.
