Man Robbed at Gunpoint After Answering Craigslist Ad to Buy Apple iPhone’s in Elmont

(Elmont, NY) A 23 year old man was robbed at gunpoint after answering a Craigslist ad to buy ten Apple iPhone’s model ’5s’ in Elmont on Friday, October 11 at 11:30pm.
According to Detectives, after making an initial contact from a Craigslist ad, the defendant and male victim, 23, agreed to meet in the parking lot of 229 W. Merrick Road Valley Stream to exchange money for ten Apple I-Phone 5s cellular telephones on October 11, 2013 at 11:30pm.
When the exchange was made the victim began to open one of the boxes to verify the phone was in the box; at that time the defendant produced a black handgun, threatened the victim and then fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
Detectives arrested Tyrone Pierre, 20, of 578 Oakley Avenue Elmont on October 12, 2013 at 9:05pm at his residence without incident.
The defendant is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of Marijuana.
He was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead on October 14, 2013.
