East Islip Man Operating 30-foot Wellcraft Scarab Charged with Boating While Intoxicated

(Long Island, NY) An East Islip man was arrested for boating while intoxicated in North Channel off Hecksher Point on Saturday morning, August 31 at approximately 1:20 am.
Christopher Meditz, of Simmons Drive, East Islip, stated that he had been drinking at a restaurant in Oakdale and was driving the boat to West Islip. Meditz, 28, was arrested and charged with Boating While Intoxicated.
Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers were on routine patrol aboard the Marine 35 and Marine Xray vessels when they observed a male operating a 30-foot Wellcraft Scarab who was driving erratically at approximately 1:20 a.m. After stopping the vessel, the officers discovered that the male appeared to be confused and disoriented.
Meditz was held at the Third Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned August 31 at First District Court in Central Islip.
