Suffolk County Police Seeking Hispanic Female In Alleged Medford Apartment Rental Scam

(Medford, NY) Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a woman who stole money that was given to her as a deposit for an apartment which was not available for rent.
A woman met a victim multiple times in July 2013 regarding an apartment rental in Medford. The victim gave the woman cash for a security deposit and one month’s rent, and the victim was given a key to the apartment. The victim later discovered the apartment was occupied and not available for rent. The suspect did not own the apartment.
The woman is described as Hispanic, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall with a medium to heavy build.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
