(Long Island, N.Y.) “Is photography your passion, hobby, or an elective class you are taking?” said Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Nassau). “Do you think you have an eye for what is ‘The Best in Town’?”
Senator Hannon invites all high school students (Grades 9-12) to participate in his “Best In Town” Photo Contest, which celebrates each student’s town and unique character as part of his contest to celebrate young photographers in the Sixth Senate District.
The contest is divided into four categories: People, Places, Animals and Nature, and is open to any student grade 9-12, enrolled in a high school located within the Sixth Senate district or a high school age resident of the district to enter this contest.
“All photos submitted must be taken in your community within the last year,” said Senator Hannon. “All winners will have their work displayed on my website, and will be recognized with an awards ceremony to be held on June 6th. Each winner will also receive a poster-sized enlargement of their photo and the Grand Prize Winner will have his or her portfolio critiqued by a Pulitzer-prize winning photographer.”
The deadline for this contest is April 15, 2013, and full details and rules are available at www.kemphannon.com. Interested students can also contact Senator Hannon’s Community Office directly at 516-739-1700.
“This is a fun and tremendous opportunity for young and aspiring photographers to show off their work,” said Hannon. “I’m always amazed by the skill and creativity of the young men and women who enter this contest. I look forward to another great set of photos.”
