(West Islip, NY) – During the week of November 13–19, National Nurse Practitioner (NP) Week, Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center recognized this distinguished group of health care providers. Since 1965, nurse practitioners have been meeting the primary and specialty care needs of their patients, providing a high level of medical expertise and patient satisfaction. National NP Week highlights the role of the nurse practitioner in the delivery of quality care.
“The theme of 2011 National NP week recognizes all NPs as heroes. NPs are privileged to care for patients holistically, addressing the psychological, social, biological and spiritual needs of every human being. As colleagues, they act as quintessential role models, bringing the art and science of nursing to every setting along the continuum of care,” stated Good Samaritan Hospital’s Senior Vice President, Nursing, and Chief Nursing Officer Patricia Hogan.
NPs partner with physicians to provide high-quality primary, acute and specialty health care. They help to empower patients by developing individualized and comprehensive health education and counseling.
