(Stony Brook, NY) – One of the most unique stores you will ever visit has opened in the Stony Brook Village Center. The Crushed Olive offers not only the finest grade of flavored extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars from around the world, but an in-store experience you will not soon forget.

With mouthwatering offerings like Tuscan Herb, Wild Mushroom & Sage and Black Truffle olive oils or Pumpkin Spice and Honey Ginger balsamic vinegars, the experience begins with the aromas that envelop you as soon as you walk in the door. An amazing assortment of these specialty oils and vinegars are contained within Italian-made urns known as “fustis” which sit row after row atop the counters. In front of each urn customers will find their very own mini dishes, bite size sampling breads and disposable cups so they can taste before buying. When your favorites are finally chosen, your purchase is individually bottled and sealed in front of you. The store also sells sea salts from around the world, jams, jellies, mustards, olives and olive related products.

Owners Robert and Mona Rossero (pictured) opened their first store in North Carolina’s Hickory community in the Catawba Valley in the foothills of North Carolina after discovering the wonderful taste and health benefits of these oils and vinegars. The store took off and customers came from hours away to shop. Their rapid success convinced the couple, whose children live on Long Island, to come out of retirement and move back to open additional stores here.

The Crushed Olive is located in the Harbor Crescent section of the Stony Brook Village Center, at 133 Main Street. They can be reached at 631-675-6266.
