(West Islip, NY) – Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is encouraging current and former patients to nominate a doctor who embodies certain qualities for its Physician of the Quarter program. The objective is to recognize physicians who have provided outstanding service and support to patients, as well as demonstrating compassion.
The most recent honoree, Kiran Trivedi, DO, was nominated by one of his patients, Elizabeth Hudson of Copiague. “Dr. Trivedi is a skilled and talented physician, as well as a caring and compassionate doctor who truly cares about the individual patient.” Ms. Hudson, nearly a week overdue in her pregnancy when her baby began showing signs of fetal distress. Dr. Trivedi chose to perform a C-section and took a “great deal of time and care” to minimize any scarring. Dr. Trivedi was presented with a plaque as winner of the hospital’s Physician of the Quarter program, while Elizabeth Hudson, as the nominator, received a check for $100.
Throughout the year, the hospital will continue to recognize physicians who have gone above and beyond to help their patients. Good Samaritan is accepting letters of nominations (no longer than 300 words) from patients wishing to nominate their doctors. Specific examples of how these physicians have exceeded their normal duties are requested. The patient selected and his/her doctor will be invited to a special ceremony and have their story published in Good Samaritan’s community newsletter, Good News From Good Sam, and on the hospital’s website. Letters should be typed or printed legibly and contain the nominator’s name, address and phone number.
