Smithtown Woman and Oakdale Man named Habitat for Humanity Volunteers of the Year

(Middle Island, NY) - Holly Moreland Beck of Smithtown and Brian Urraro of Oakdale have been named Volunteers of the Year by Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk for their years of volunteer service to the non profits ReStore and construction programs. The pair will receive the award on November 30, 2010 at a special Friends Reception at the Watermill on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in Smithtown.
Beck works at FEGS of Copiague as Coordinator for their Mental Health Program. She has been a volunteer at the ReStore for two years and runs the customer service area. She is the official Saturday greeter. Beck helped develop the first ReStore brochure and ran a food drive program for a local church.
Brian Urraro is an account executive for Nutricap Labs in Farmingdale. In the last three years he has worked on 14 Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk homes. “This experience has been more than rewarding, and I will continue to work with Habitat for Humanity for the rest of my life. It’s an amazing cause and I would highly recommend more people getting involved in any way they can.,” said Urraro upon hearing of his award.
In addition to Urraro and Beck, Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk will recognize volunteers in several categories for appreciation of the volunteerism of groups, and individuals and businesses for their support over the years: The Honorees are: Community Partner – Steve Levy, Suffolk County Executive; Campus Chapter - Shelter Island High School; Faith Partner – Long Island East District, United Methodist Churches; Volunteers of the Year – Holly Beck, ReStore and Brian Urraro, Construction; Business Partner – Henry Schein “Team Schein”; Family Partner – Michele and Walter Mackey; and Special Service Award – Teresa’s Family Cleaning.
