Nassau Bar Association Names Recent Law School Grad Pro Bono Attorney for October 2010
October 13, 2010
(Mineola) - Shawn Spielberg of Bellmore graduated from Hofstra University School of Law in May 2008 straight into one of the worst job markets that new law graduates have ever had to face. When he heard about the Volunteer Lawyers Project’s Landlord/Tenant Attorney of the Day program last winter, he knew it would give him an opportunity to put what he had learned in law school into practice. Since March, Spielberg has volunteered at the court four days every week, 335 hours in 131 cases. For this excellent record, Nassau County Bar Association President Marc Gann has named Pro Bono Attorney of the Month for October 2010.
Spielberg graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a major in computer science in 2005 and attended Hofstra Law School the next term. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, enjoys practicing law and is interested in a full time attorney position. In the meantime, he will continue his pro bono service.
