Assemblyman Dean Murray Recognized As A Hero Of Reform By Ed Koch, NY Uprising At Long Island Event
September 30, 2010
(Mineola, N.Y.) - Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch recognized freshman Assemblyman Dean Murray (R, C) and other Long Island state officials and candidates as true Heroes of Reform today during a press conference in Mineola.
New York Uprising, the grassroots group founded by Koch earlier this year, advocates for meaningful government reform in three areas - Non-Partisan Independent Redistricting; Responsible Budgeting; and Ethics Reform. Murray was among the first state officials to sign the pledge for reform by NY Uprising, earning their designation as a Hero of Reform.
“There is a crisis of confidence in our state government, thanks to career politicians who have corrupted the process of redistricting, our state budget, and ethical government,” said Murray. “I’m proud to be backed by NY Uprising as a true Hero of Reform. Together, we can change Albany’s dysfunctional structure, enabling us to create jobs, cap taxes, cut spending and allow for independent non-partisan redistricting.”
At the event, Koch singled out the Democratic Speaker of the Assembly as the state’s #1 “Enemy of Reform.”
“Anybody can claim to be a reformer - but the proof is in the actions you take. Since my first day in the Assembly early this year, I have worked tirelessly to reform our broken system of government, and change the business as usual actions of career politicians in the Democratic majority,” said Murray. “Unfortunately, there are candidates out there who claim to be reformers, but their campaigns are funded by the top ‘Enemy of Reform,’ and their single minded goal is to join the Democratic Majority that perpetuates this broken system.”

Dean should be ‘recognized’ for what he really is - a man with big domestic abuse problems who is estranged form his wife and military son (who is strangely absent). He even had to change his name. Dean thinks he can hide from his associations with Carl Paladino and the Tea Party (who like to wave the confederate flag as they did in Patchogue during one of their protests). And why is he supported by business who support outsourcing? Is Dean not for American jobs?

I am very disappointed in Dean Murray. He’s turned into what he says he’s against - just another Albany politician. He’s part of the problem now, just filling his pockets. Signing up for the Cadillac health plan, getting thousands to sit on some do-nothing committee, heck he’s even reimbursed for gas. How can Koch say he’s a “hero of reform?” Dean is a hero of “same ‘ol, same ‘ol.”
What did The Who say? “Meet the new boss…same as the old boss.”
