ACLD Under The Sea Gala Raises Funds for Enviable Lives

(Woodbury, N.Y.) – Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD) was recently a proud host to more than 300 corporate leaders, government officials, families, friends and individuals with disabilities at its annual Dinner Dance Gala at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY.
ACLD proudly presented the 2010 Corporate Leadership Award to William J. Golden, CEO of UnitedHealthcare of New York, and long-time supporter of ACLD Sheila Penn was recognized with ACLD’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
By evening’s end, the total contributions from donations, sponsorships, ticket sales, silent auction items and fundraising initiatives exceeded $300,000. This money will be used directly by ACLD to help individuals with developmental disabilities increase their independence and help them lead enviable lives.
Mr. Aaron Liebowitz, Executive Director of ACLD commented, “ACLD is grateful for the support of our wonderful honorees and all of our donors. Their generosity helps ACLD achieve its mission of providing an enviable life for individuals with developmental disabilities.”
About ACLD:
Founded in 1957, the not-for-profit organization has served the needs of over 3,000 children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities, and their families. ACLD’s mission is to provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to pursue enviable lives, increase their independence and improve the quality of their lives in the community. ACLD employs nearly 1,000 people and operates 72 different program sites across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Service programs include early childhood services, day habilitation, residential alternatives, vocational training and job placement, recreation programs, family support services, Medicaid service coordination, and medical and behavioral health services.
