(Old Bethpage, N.Y.)-While it may be important that children with autism receive early intervention programs, it is inevitable that every child evolves into an adult, so what happens to children with autism when they grow up?  That question and many others will be discussed today at a conference on autism, hosted by Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE) at, 191 Sweet Hollow Road, Old Bethpage, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Well known author Bobby Newman, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Psychologist is the keynote speaker. Dr. Newman will create a framework for helping religious and community institutions to consider the needs of people with autism and behavioral challenges. A framework is described for helping to strike a balance that will ensure the rights of all concerned.

“We are excited to host this important conference for parents, educators and related professionals that will provide knowledge on the diversity of traditional and non-traditional services available to help individuals with autism live rich and fulfilling lives,” said Robert S. Budd, Chief Executive Officer, FREE.

Other topics will include the need for more housing for persons with disabilities and more innovative programs like ones FREE offers for individuals with autism and other disabilities including a theater day program, therapeutic riding at Saddle Rock Ranch, art therapy plus residential and after school services.
For more information about workshops and the conference see attached agenda.
